Sub-Station Roof Repairs
HISTORY
Houldsworth Mill was designed by Abraham Stott, for wealthy mill owner Henry Houldsworth and constructed in 1865.
The building attained grade II* listed status in 1975, due to its prominent architectural and historical interest.
INTIAL BRIEF & CONSULTATION
As part of a planned maintenance regime, Roger Hannah and Co undertook an initial survey of the substation roof, to ascertain the condition and extent of remedial works required.
Following consultation with the Local Conservation Officer, which verified a need to retain as much as the previous building’s historic and architectural values as possible, due to its listed status. Roger Hannah & Co prepared annotated designs and a schedule of works.
TENDER & CONTRACT ADMINISTARTION
Roger Hannah and Co was subsequently asked to tender and administer the works, through to completion.
COMPLETION
Following a successful tender process. A Principle Contractor was appointed and the works were completed on time and within budget, whilst also restoring the substation and maintaining its historical and architectural values as a Listed Building.
