More Employment Land Release Success
Roger Hannah have been successful in releasing land from employment use at the former Briars Lane Industrial Estate in Burscough for residential development. Acting on behalf of Taylor Wimpey and in conjunction with Nexus Planning a detailed report was prepared that outlined that Briars Lane Industrial Estate was no longer viable as an Industrial location.
Briars Lane Industrial Estate occupies a large site in Burscough, West Lancs. The site, as a whole, had been utilised by a firm of delivery specialists as a storage, packing and distribution site up until 2009, when the site became economically unviable. The site is surrounded by existing and new build residential properties which was placing restrictions upon its use. The release of the site will therefore allow for a more harmonious residential environment and the opportunity for new employment development in more appropriate locations in the Borough.
An application from Taylor Wimpey was approved in August for the demolition of the existing buildings on site and the erection of 66 residential dwellings. This will be a welcome redevelopment of the area and provide much needed new homes within West Lancashire.
