Project: MHSG is set over an 8-acre site, consisting of open green fields and approximately 12 buildings, each differing in construction and style. The main buildings date back to 1874, showcasing striking Victorian features, while more recent additions include classrooms of modern constructions methods. To plan for future maintenance and refurbishment works, the Estates Team needed to assess the condition of their existing buildings to identify any challenging areas that should be addressed prior to general maintenance.
Approach: Roger Hannah were commissioned to survey the internal and external elements of the buildings’ fabrics throughout the entire site; along with M&E installations and general fixtures and fittings. The survey was conducted in a planned manner to accommodate the school’s schedule and within a couple of days a fully costed Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule was prepared that identified a comprehensive plan of capital spending over the next 10 years to improve the quality of the building stock.
Outcome: The PPM schedule provided by Roger Hannah is a key service within the Building & Project Consultancy team and is vital for maintaining and improving buildings, with considerations to capital spend over an extended period. This comprehensive plan will help the client understand the best course of action for their available capital and ensure the quality of their building stock is maintained and improved over the next decade.
