Sales for AHNW soar for the start of 2018

Auction House North West topped sales of £4.5 million (£4.556,100) in its first sale of 2018, which took place on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Over 400 buyers packed the auction room at Bolton Wanderers FC, where more than 8 out of 10 properties listed were sold. Fast and furious bidding was evident from the start, and interest included a three-bedroom semi-detached house on Cherry Road in Southport. Bidding started at £60,000, with the hammer coming down at £110,000. The house needs total refurbishment and modernization, and this sale is thought to be the first on this popular road since 2001.

Auction House North West managing director, Oliver Adams, said:

“Our recent auctions have proved resistant to the fluctuations in the market which are plaguing other agents. We feel the good range of properties we can offer buyers means we can ride this storm.”

“Any slowing down in the auction buying appetite which might have happened over Christmas has returned with a vengeance, and properties which didn’t attract much interest in December have now been selling above their guide price.”

Another highlight of February’s sale is a former Victorian cotton mill which has fallen into disrepair. Bidding started on Astley House, Burnley at £100,000, with the lot selling for £290,000. Oliver Adams explained, “This property and site of 1.35 acres are currently divided into a number of small workshops. There is no planning in place, but there was permission given for 28 homes 11 years ago, which has now lapsed.  This property could be a good calculated risk for the buyer.”

Properties are already being listed for the next Auction House North West sale, due to take place on February 20, 2018.
