The London Borough of Barnet are currently undertaking steps to transform the Brent Cross area. Plans have been drawn for a £4 billion regeneration scheme designed to create a new Northern town centre for London. The plans include developments to infrastructure, retail, leisure, educational facilities and residential developments which will radically alter the wider area. The scheme will also aim to provide an increased community amenity with the improvement of Clitterhouse Playing Fields and Claremont Park.

The Council are working in connection with the major retail developer Hammerson and the influential investment house of Standard Life to bring this project forward. The scheme will see a large part of the Brent Cross area redeveloped in order to provide over 7500 homes to the community and increased retail opportunities. Planning consent was gained in 2014 and the process of acquisition and preliminary construction is being undertaken now.
